About the DBN Entrepreneurship Training Programme

The annual Entrepreneurship Training Programme (ETP) is the flagship programme of the Development Bank of Nigeria (DBN). Capacity building is a core mandate of the Bank, and so far we have consistently delivered large scale capacity-building support to MSMEs across Nigeria, leveraging our Learning Management System (LMS) and strategic partnerships with MDAs/Organisations.

Objectives

1. Ensure MSMEs are well equipped with knowledge, skills and resources to grow and scale their
business 2. Improve the capacity of MSMEs to access funding.
3. Enhance MSMEs' capacity for efficient fund utilisation, trade facilitation, investment readiness and improved access to markets.

Target Audience

The programme is open to MSMEs across all sectors in Nigeria that are seeking the knowledge and skills required to successfully operate and grow their businesses.

Training Format

The programme takes a blended learning format approach of virtual and physical training

Virtual Training

The virtual training is a sell-paced comprehensive curriculum of the basic business principles broken down into modules and will be implemented using the DBN learning management platform (BIZAld).

In-person Workshop


This is an intense practical workshop and the curriculum is based on a need assessment of the shortlisted businesses. Participants are selected from across Nigeria’s six geo-political zones, ensuring nationwide representation. the in-person workshops are held annually in June for cohort 1 and November for cohort 2.

Pitching Session


All participants who meet the criteria for the pitching competition will of eligible to pitch their business value proposition and selected business will receive grants from a dedicated funding poor to support business growth and sustainability

Training Programme Process Flow

  1. All applicants are required to register on the DBN learning management system via https://learning.devbankng.com/ or express their interest through our partners.
  2. Upon registration, participants are encouraged to enroll and complete courses on the learning management platform and obtain an average score of 80% across all quizzes and final assessment.

    Mandatory courses include:
    • Accounting & Bookkeeping
    • Sustainability for MSMEs
    • Marketing and Sales Techniques
    • Credit Management/Access to Finance
  3. All participants who have completed at least the 4 mandatory courses by the stipulated deadline for each cohort and achieved the required pass mark of 80% will receive an email with a link to apply for the in-person workshop.
  4. Participants will be screened and shortlisted from the close of the application based on set eligibility criteria
  5. Communication with successful participants will be by email to the email address provided during registration.
  6. Training will commence on announced dates for each cohort across the six geo-political zones.
